They are marks in an enduring book. It is important to periodically benchmark God\rquote s thinking before rather than after a problem manifests itself. This preventative approach does not necessarily eliminate the need for \ldblquote discipline\rdblquote by Church leadership. Genesis even sheds some new light on Thom Wolf's question for the 21st century citizens who are asking:\par \par \cf3 "How can I best live life on planet earth?"\par \cf0\par Several hundred years ago a Roman Catholic Priest named Martin Luther was reputed to have initiated the "Christian Work Ethic" by sLVAL3tating, \par \par \pard\li540\ri540\sl240\slmult0\cf5 "Work to the glory of God whether you are a Priest or a cobbler."\cf0\par \pard\li144\ri144\sl240\slmult0\par Almost a century ago, Roland Alan stirred the 20th century by reminding us of the "spontaneous expansion" of the early church. Now, entering the 21st century, with all the open doors to the gospel, we must reevaluate just how the apostles were able to go into an area, preach the "good news," gather converts, nurture them and move on in such a way that they could later write back and with such confidence remind them of a core teaching that seemed to be pervasive and so commonly understood by all. \par \par Even more perplexing is the fact that Paul and the church planting team were often only in a city for a few weeks, a few months, or at most a few years. How did they do it? How could they create radiant persons and such responsible and reproductive leaders? \par \par The Apostle Paul was a scholar of the Old Testament and understood that the "new" Gospel that he preached was based upon a clear view of God's work with mankind as begun and described in Genesis. Paul understood the full meaning of Christ's words when he began to preach the Gospel, which Christ said was "...repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." \cf4\ul Mat_4:17\cf0\ulnone Repent? Repent from what? Repent from the desire to "...be like God" or taking control of your life as well as you bad behavior.\par \par But what does "...the kingdom of heaven is near" really mean practically? We believe that anyone who has Christ as His savior and has repented or given back control of his life to Christ and the Father will have access to all the resources of heaven to accomplish God's will in their lives.
